Any page on Shamanism should begin with the fact that, the word is a blanket term used by anglo scholars to classify a group of things which often have no more in common than trees and fish. Shaman is a siberian term for epileptic (he who shakes). Any epileptic born to the tribe is the one who is their conduit to the spirit world. True there is some guidence by who ever was doing it when they were born, but by and large the myths and images the person is raised with is a lot of his training (in short, he'd be totally lost outside of his world.) True Shammanism is therefore an act of fate (divine nature) within a particular set and setting. Therefore there is no way to learn it. There are paths by which people strive to enter the spirit world (yogas,lucid dreaming, astral projection, meditation, drugs, ect. These fall into the catagorie of self directed spirit quest. Self directed in that, you have control over them (it's not like a seizure that can take you without warning). There are people with a body in two different dimensions (Naguales) that are capable of equal control over themselves in either. They can produce the same phenomenon as shamans but from very different applications. It would be an injustice to refer to one as the other. In the case of the latter, there is usually a near fatal disease or accident by which fate chooses the subject. Again it is not a self directed path. The covenant of the Sun God directs us that anything we can control is lesser than ourselves and therefore has no power over us. That which is greater than us is the body of God. Therefore one can only conclude that to be a person of power, or a person of knowledge is ordained by God and not the individual. As such, people who have been afflicted fate in this manner tend to recognize each other, because they are conversing on both sides instead of just one, as you would with people in general. This creates the illusion of telepathy. Single bodied people try it and get no-where. The mechanics aren't in place. Psychic how ever is a different thing. For the covenant tells us that part of us extends forward into time. Anything we are going to know in the future we can access in the present if we can shut out the other noise in between the event and where we are now. Person A stares at a picture. Person B at a distance sees the picture and discribes it over the phone. Later person B is shown the pisture so they could see how close they came. It is at that moment not the previous one that they are discribing the picture from. For that is the contact point on the time line that conects the circuit. Without a circuit nothing moves. You can test this by having two differnt one of a kind pictures. Have one set up so the psychic will see it. Have the other on concentrated but then burned. See which one the psychic discribes. Therefore anything you're going to tell a psychic in the future like the psychic can tell you now. But this does not guarantee a divine conection. Over all being a shaman. G'an, Nagual, Medicine Man, sooth sayer,etc. comes with great personal sacrifice (like the right to a normal life) and that so many people would seek it tells me that they don't understand, or they're looking to play God (or maybe they're just crazy). Remember the set and setting play just as important role as "the mark", therefore a person split by fate may just as easily spend their life aimlessly wandering around both sides.
